Six things new fans ask about most. Tap a question to open it.
How an innings worksThe first six overs of each innings. Only two fielders are allowed outside the 30-yard circle, so batters attack. After the sixth over, up to five fielders can go out.
Introduced in 2023, it lets each team bring in one substitute from a list of named players during a match. The substitute can bat and bowl, which is why batting line-ups now go so deep.
Each innings has two short breaks: one called by the bowling side between overs 6 and 9, and one by the batting side between overs 13 and 16.
1st plays 2nd in Qualifier 1, and the winner goes to the final. 3rd plays 4th in the Eliminator. The loser of Qualifier 1 then plays the Eliminator winner in Qualifier 2 for the other place in the final.
A Super Over decides it: one over each, with the side that scores more winning. If that is tied too, another Super Over is played.
At a mega auction, an RTM card lets a team match the winning bid for one of its former players and keep him.
